Regarding medical charges of emergency care received in Region Skåne

During your stay in Sweden you are entitled to receive emergency care if needed and planned health care if arranged, but you are responsible for your medical charges yourself.

If you receive outpatient treatment, you are most likely asked to pay when treated. If you are a citizen of an EU/EES country, you are in those cases able to claim the pay amount from the social insurance office in your home country. If you receive inpatient treatment you usually pay a part payment at the hospital and then receive an invoice of the remaining amount to cover your treatment. If you have a private insurance covering the cost, we can send the invoice straight to your insurance company, if you supply us the information needed. If you have recived an invoice from us, please let us know if you have:
• A EU health insurance card,
• a provisional certificate showing the possession of a EU health insurance card,
• an Employee Certificate from your Swedish employer
• Or if you have a LMA-card.

If you have any questions concerning your invoice or in need of other documents requested by your insurance company, please send an email to
